Placing Talent's client are looking to recruit an Accredited Clinical Coder (Band 5) to join their clinical coding department on a full-time basis. You will work with a team of peers to deliver the department’s vision to provide efficient and expert coding of patient records, embracing national standards of excellence, enabling the Trust to optimise income, and enriching the data our client uses to understand and enhance patient care.
Our client is based in the Southwest and although the role can be fully remote (within the UK), the role can also be on-site or a combination of the two if you prefer.
Key Duties
- Accurately abstract and analyse patient clinical records, to extract all relevant diagnoses, complications, co-morbidities and any procedures relevant to the selected inpatient spell.
- Be responsible for coding the more complex areas within the Trust including the coding of deceased patients. Liaise with clinicians (as required) to ensure these areas are coded accurately and comprehensively.
- Maintain Clinical Coding accuracy for quality (90%+) and rate of coding (minimum 4 FCEs per hour) to produce high quality timely data for the Trust.
- Use clinical coding expertise to respond to coding queries from Information Services for reporting, and Freedom of Information requests plus other requests from staff throughout the Trust regarding diagnosis and procedure codes.
- Responsible for mentoring, educating and development of less experienced coding staff.

Essential Criteria
- National Clinical Coding Qualification.
- Three years+ UK clinical coding experience within an acute NHS setting.
- Up-to-date Clinical Coding Standards Refresher Course.
- Experience coding a range of surgical and medical specialties.
- Available to work 37.5 hours per week across Monday - Friday.
