Salary: Up to £46,000, depending on experience
Working schedule: Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm
Location: This is a hybrid role. When you are required to be on-site you will be based in the City of Westminster.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for a Clinical Coding Analyst to support the provision of high-quality coded data through effective extraction and timely analysis of complex clinical information, across all specialties.
The post holder will have a detailed understanding of the national clinical coding standards pertaining to the ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications and participate in the validation of clinical coding performed by the department. The post involves liaising with clinicians and clinical teams on a regular basis to verify data recorded in the patient’s electronic record.
Applicants holding Accredited Clinical Coder status or those with significant experience will be considered for Senior Clinical Coding Analyst.
What will your duties include?
- Abstract and analyse complex clinical information from the electronic patient record, within set timescales, applying national clinical coding conventions.
- To deliver accurate and complete coded data for all inpatient and daycase activity in line with the rules, standards and conventions of the latest Clinical Classifications (ICD and OPCS).
- To assist in setting standards for the clinical coding function which meet local requirements, are compliant with national standards, and meet the requirements for the external reporting and other processes which rely on high quality coded clinical information.
- To address and resolve any coding queries, including data quality issues that may impact the accuracy of coding.
- To help promote and deliver effective communication between Clinical Coding and other areas of the organization.
- To help support, adapt and implement the clinical coding quality assurance programme to ensure coded data is meaningful and comparable.
- Communicate unresolved clinical coding queries and operational issues to Department leadership or Coding Assurance Analyst.
- Communicates regarding administrative processes concerning incorrect admission dates/admission method, incorrect transfers between Consultants/specialities, Discharge dates/Discharge method, missed admissions etc. to ensure the patient electronic record truly reflects the activity of the Organisation.
What we need from you?
- Extensive knowledge of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications including the correct application of complex rules and conventions is essential
- Expert knowledge and understanding of HRG4+ is essential
- Substantial Clinical Coding experience across all specialties and levels of complexity
- Must possess critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
- Must have experience in using clinical coding skills and experience to communicate complex coding rules to clinical and non-clinical staff/external agencies.
- Substantial experience working with an Electronic Health Record
